What is Minnesota Ore Operations Employees Credit Union?

It is an association of members who use and operate a non-profit savings and borrowing service (the credit union) for their own behalf. Unlike a bank or finance company, our goal is not to accumulate profits. After our expenses are paid and reserves for losses set aside, our income is returned to the members in dividends or other benefits.

Who may join?

Our field of membership consists of all hourly and salaried employees of USS Minnesota Ore Operations, both Minntac and Keetac, members of IBEW Local 294, and their families. “Once a member always a member”, so if you retire or leave employment for any reason, you can still remain a member.

How do I join?

Fill out a membership card. Minimum share savings for membership is $5.00. For further information, phone 218-262-1607 or 1-888-462-1607. Our office address is 2540 E Beltline in the Graysher Shopping Center Hibbing MN.

What kind of return can I expect on my savings?

Dividends are currently compounded and paid quarterly. The Board of Directors declares a dividend rate each quarter, based on the earnings for that period. Inquire at the credit union office for rates and fees.

How do I apply for a loan?

You may fill out an application. It is then reviewed by the credit committee. Every application is individually considered and the amount loaned is determined by the applicant’s character, credit rating and by the value of the security offered. See the credit union for loan rates.

Does the Credit Union have checking accounts?

Our share draft account is a credit union checking account which earns interest. There is no minimum balance required. Direct deposit and payroll deduction is available. A small service fee is charged.

We also offer free checking accounts. This account does not earn interest and no service fee is charged.

Debit cards are available to qualified members with a checking account. Inquire at the credit union office for rates and fees.

How do I find my account information when I need it?

Our office staff is always available to answer your questions Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We also have Audio Response Telephone Banking available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

How do I make changes to my US Steel payroll deductions to the credit union?
